Silhouette and proportion
Decide how the piece will sit in your collection: a close-fitting base, a relaxed layer or structured outerwear. Compare shoulder width and finished garment length with something you already wear. A styled photo can conceal a pinned waist or rolled sleeve.
Material and construction
Record the stated fibre composition, lining and fastening. A soft-looking fabric is not evidence of a particular fibre. Ask whether the lining and pockets shown are included on the selected version; do not infer construction from a brand name.
A useful comparison
For two jackets, record chest width, shoulder width, length, sleeve length and whether measurements are flat or around the garment. Consider the thickest layer you plan to wear underneath. A lower price is only comparable after both versions meet the same fit requirements.
